Welcome to Doc Mayberry
I’m Doc Mayberry, a Board Certified Family Physician who works in primary care and hospice. My wife is also Board Certified in Family Medicine and while she does meaningful work in hospice, she works full time on her passion project of therapy and training with horses.
We both have a strong background in work with large animals. I grew up on a working farm in Tennessee, was part of the Future Farmers of America and 4H. Together our goal is to preserve & cultivate the dying art of working the land and building a sustainable, efficient and still modern lifestyle.
Having worked with thousands of patients and developed preventative medicine programs it is evident that educating people on the benefits of this lifestyle, including the exact steps to take, is mandatory for our immediate and long term health.
You may wonder what hospice has to do with this? All aspects of the agricultural life work in circles, just as our life makes a full circle from beginning to end. Just as we grow and accomplish developmental milestones, those milestones leave us in reverse order as our path leads us to a final transition to our Heavenly Creator. As we work with nature and animals the connection with spirituality becomes evident and helps one continue their own personal journey, including healing from grief, developing skills to manage anxiety, feeling more grounded and much more. As a wise mentor once said, “as you are with [your animal] you are exchanging energies; be there, be present and let your energies connect”.
